The Different Parameters
Location
The location parameters are used to delimit the playing area. The latitude and longitude coordinates determine the center of the playing area, and its extent depends on the chosen distance.
You can retrieve the latitude and longitude coordinates from Google Map by placing a marker on the map.
Distances are defined in meters (1 meter = 1.09 yards = 3.28 feet).
The shorter the distance, the more playful the game is. The longer the distance, the more social the dynamics.
The address informs all users of the location where the game will take place.
Schedule
When choosing the start date of the game, remember to allow time for other players to join.
A minimum number of players is required for a game to start. If this quota is not reached by the chosen start date, there is a 24-hour postponement, renewable until the quota is reached.
For the end date, it's up to you to choose the date that best suits your goal (the longer the duration The longer a game is, the more time players can take to get to know each other).
Game Mode
- Direct and Open
- This game mode is ideal for discovering the app, especially because you can join these games at any time (even if the game has started or if you have been eliminated). There are no stakes, so you can take the time to get to know the other players.
- Direct & Closed (available this fall)
- A new player will not be able to join the game if they have already started, so the stakes are a little higher. Once eliminated, you cannot return to the game. The goal is to survive as long as possible. There are no rankings. This mode is similar to a battle royale; the winner is the player still in the game, while all others are eliminated.
- Open Tournament with Re-Entry (available this fall)
- This game mode allows you to familiarize yourself with the tournament dynamics, the stakes are moderate. New participants can join a game even if it has already started. Re-entry into the game occurs when another player is eliminated.
- Closed tournament with re-entry (available this fall)
- Same as the previous mode, except that players wishing to join the game after it has already started will not be able to participate.
- Closed tournament without re-entry (available this fall)
- The stakes are very high because each elimination is final. It is important not to get eliminated, while also trying to eliminate as many opponents as possible to climb the rankings.
Presence in the playing area (temporarily disabled)
To avoid being eliminated from a game, each player must regularly check in to the playing area. To do this, the user must open the app while in the area. Each game specifies the number of days per week during which they must be present in the playing area. It also specifies the time required to validate a day.
The greater the number of days of presence per week, the more other players will be present in the playing area, thus increasing the chances for players to cross paths. A 7/7 presence can be beneficial, making the game dynamic and potentially short-lived (1 day, 2 days, or even one or two weeks). However, for a game to last several weeks or months, it is preferable to opt for 3 to 5 days per week.
EXEMPTION PERIOD (advanced settings )
A game may include waiver periods. These allow the player to temporarily withdraw from a game. These periods can be used to meet opponents without the risk of being eliminated, or to go on vacation for several days and avoid having to periodically return to the playing area.
If the game includes waiver periods, the maximum number of days that a waiver period can last will be indicated. The minimum number of days that must separate two waiver periods will also be indicated.
Number of squares covering the photo
The more squares covering the photo, the longer the game will last.
Maximum number of questions per day
During the match, questions allow the participant to discover their target's photo. At the same time, the answers given to the questions appear in a private chat for players to discuss.
The more you limit the number of questions per day, the more time players will have to take to discover their opponent.
Waiting time for a correct or incorrect answer
In each game, you must set the time that must elapse after a correct or incorrect answer before being able to answer a new question.
By default, we recommend rewarding correct answers by choosing 0 minute of waiting, and to penalize wrong answers by choosing at least 1 minute of waiting. The longer you choose to extend the time limits, the more time players will have to discuss the different responses.
Maximum distance to locate the target
In each game, you must set a maximum distance from which your target can be eliminated using the « target located » function. This distance is also used as an action parameter for certain WILDCARDS. By default, we recommend 100 m.
A short distance may discourage some players who like to keep a certain distance from people they don't know.
Additionally, a short distance could result in unsuccessful elimination attempts due to the sometimes imprecise location on some phones.
Waiting time after an unsuccessful location attempt
Waiting time after an unsuccessful location attempt when using the location feature « target located », vous devez alors attendre un certain temps avant de pouvoir utiliser à nouveau la fonction « target located ».
The longer the wait, the more it limits random location attempts. We therefore recommend a minimum wait time of 1440 minutes (24 hours).
WILDCARDS
For wildcard settings (which wildcards to choose and how often), we recommend visiting the JOKERS page.
Pincode
This setting allows you to make a game private. Only those who know the Pincode can join the game. The Pincode must be 4 digits long.
Nickname or First Name
You can choose between your first name or nickname as the information that will be shared with other players during the game. Each player can change their nickname from one game to the next.
Age or gender category
If you wish, you can limit access to the game based on two criteria: age and/or gender.
Minimum number of players to start a game
In each game, you must set a minimum number of players to join the game before it can start. Some games can only be interesting if there are a large number of players (for example, a game where residents of the same town get to know each other). This setting is particularly important in so-called « closed » game modes, because once the game starts, players who have not joined will not be able to participate.
If the minimum number of players is not reached by the start date, the game will be postponed for 24 hours until the minimum number of players is reached.
By default, this parameter is set to 2, because to play Ozhers, you must have at least two players.
Minimum number of players in a game.
It is possible to define a threshold at which the game ends. Therefore, you must define a minimum number of players participating in the game. By default, this parameter is set to 1 so that the game ends either on the end date determined when the game was created, or when only one player remains.
